Carnival – a period of public revelry at a regular time each year, typically during the week before Lent in Roman Catholic countries, involving processions, music, dancing, and the use of masquerade.
Carnival – a traveling amusement show or circus.
I love a great carnival, mostly the latter type but certainly wouldn’t turn down a trip to the former. Carnivals are filled with incredible amounts of energy, excitement, sounds, smells, and colors! How could we not be allured by a passing carnival or an annual celebration in the streets? They are filled with merriment and joy and I know that all of use can always use more of that in our lives. It’s no wonder that the cruise line Carnival bears its name – it evokes all things celebration!
My favorite thing about a carnival is the details. I love to look at the finely crafted merry-go-round, or at the deliciously shiny candied apples. I guess I might have been a magpie in a former life as I’m attracted to all things shiny.
What about you? Do you love a carnival? What is your favorite part?
