A Wildflower Blooms
I grew up with art books all over my childhood home. My mom was a painter and although my dad was an electrician by trade, he also drafted house plans and wrote poetry. We always listened to music. I remember the radio or records blaring on the weekends and in the evenings. My dad loved OG country western like Willie and Waylen. My mom loved The Beatles and was always falling in love with new bands like The Kinks and Talking Heads. They both loved Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and folk music.
We lived in the rural Mojave Desert for most of my childhood. Days were spent running free across the desert landscape with my little sister and two neighbor friends. We rode bikes to the railroad tracks on a road that had a gradual incline uphill and then we’d coast all the way home – we would repeat the route endlessly on summer days. I had two ponies, Charlie and Cupcake. They loved me but didn’t care much for anyone else.
I loved to make art alongside my mom. I wrote plays and acted them out with my sister and friends for our parents. We made up choreographies to new music. Our lives were filled with creativity.
At about 5 years old, I told my dad that I wanted to be a Ballerina-Lawyer, and without hesitation he replied “Of course, you will be. You can do anything!” I never forgot him saying that I could be anything I wanted. My mom regularly played her guitar and sang us to sleep. You could say that we had a pretty special childhood that fostered our creative futures.
Both my sister and I have become artists. My mom still makes incredible art and my dad still writes poetry. We are a family of creatives.
I’ve delved into many forms of art over the years. The one consistent thing is that I’ve always loved to create beautiful compositions. I love to create whimsical illustrations that have pleasing compositions. I draw to bring joy and laughter and fond memories to people. I hope that my art makes you smile and conjures up a story that leaves you feeling delighted. I hope you enjoy perusing my work and if you love a piece, pick up a print and bring a piece of my heart into your home.
I’m still drawing and creating faster than I can get them loaded on my website for you all to enjoy. So please, stay tuned, subscribe, and stick around a while. I’d love to get to know you as well. I try to blog as often as possible and love chatting with people in the comments. If you’ve made it this far, kudos and thank you! I hope you’re having a lovely day and if you’re not, I hope that this may have inspired you to do something creative – write, draw, color in a coloring book. Do something that makes you happy today. With much love...
